Trans…sport

So today we can witness my sporting enthusiasm in showing something about Riga`s transport, though it`s true to say that my coverage is far from full. Here are just some shots happened to be kept on the camera during my walking along and across good Old Riga.

Just some cars to start with.

Some bikes of course, though still consider Kawasaki a bit too much for narrow streets with special ancient pavement.

It`s difficult to accelerate anyway as they have special "sleeping policemen", though doubt about it`s real antique age.

Bicycles are also popular, and honestly I had a plan to rent one but somehow I changed it.

The toll entrance to the Old part of the town – for cars.

Other methods of road control – “just stop them”, but artistically.

I liked this sign about "Stop, the pedestrian", protecting the lawns. It`s all metal and looks nicely old-fashioned.

The parking spot.

The narrowest street in the town – Rozena iela (Rozena street).

Just ordinary streets are just busy.

The typical tram is doubled and is being used for advertising.

Back and front of a tram.

Police car, though with an "Information" sign on its roof. Perhaps it`s some special service for tourists.

As far as I can tell it`s not a police car, but something connected with the State security, as the same symbol and uniform were noticed near the Presidential residency situated in Riga`s castle.

Road signs. As everything else they are a bit different though quite international. The kids on this sign are even sorted by the gender – “the girl” even wears a skirt and showing some hairstyle. But as a part of old (perhaps Soviet) tradition – the heads of the main personages are separated from the bodies.

Another sign which amused me and which I am choosing to finish the story for today.
