A bit of Latvian fauna

So from "general nature" talks I suggest moving to some chat about Latvian animals.

Obviously Latvia is a maritime country, with lots of sea-gulls and like.
They (gulls and like) are everywhere and make some noise. Sounds a bit unexpected and non-melodic but interesting.

As I have already mentioned somewhere, the Riga`s market is the oldest and the biggest in Europe. It is located in four relatively big hangars which have been left after World War I. The Germans were keeping their airships (dirigibles) there. Nowadays, walking through all that space is giving an exciting mixture of smells, scents and odours: from strawberries and roses through smoked meat and spiced pickles to salted fish of several kinds.

Old Riga - old part of the town which is an extremely picturesque place. Most of my time was spent there - while walking through narrow streets, watching and studying old buildings...

...spying cats :)

I was lucky with all sorts of weather there, so that`s after the rain already. But those charming streets... still absolutely nice.

Honestly, I am always impressed by all roads made of stone. Pigeons - too grey for a "dove" - are just a bonus here :)

This woman was selling kittens near the central bus station. The word "kitten" in Lettish sounds quite funny for Russian speakers, almost meaning the stuff small kittens may produce all day long :) Both linguistic versions are written on the piece of paper she is holding, but thanks to my economical resizing - no evidence here :)

Neat parking, isn`t it? :)

Ciao now, see you soon :)
